...that we post about our trip to San Diego and Washington. Just to start, the complete mileage that we achieved on the trip was almost 3600 miles. Yeah, my seat was tired and my bottom. We took 8 days and first traveled to San Diego, CA where we visited with Jade's grandparents, brothers, and other relatives. Her parents and siblings had left the day before we got there, bummer, but we still had a good visit. Jade's brother, Zion, got back from Iraq for the third time on June 4th, that was the main reason we went to San Diego. We went to Balboa Park,
the San Diego Zoo,
the San Diego Temple,
and Camp Pendleton to see Zion and his family. Zion's crew calls him "Chubbs" because he is too heavy for his height (according to the Marines). He is the "Tank Commander" of a Light Amphibious Vehicle (LAV) and rides in that top turret looking thing with his head and shoulders sticking out at all times. He showed us around the base and his work area, or "backyard," it was pretty neat. Then we traveled to Washington, which took us almost 24 hours from San Diego.
We drove through all of California; and Oregon has got a weird interstate thing going on as you can see because we had to go all the way north then head almost all the way east in Oregon to get to Washington, it was long.In Washington we visited with Dad & MarySue, Sandy & Roger, Butch & Melissa, Donna & Harry, and Carol. It was a good bit of fun. There had been some mis-communications that limited more fun, but it was good to get to know all of them better.
We fished (This is Butch and his son David)
and toured around the small town of Republic. We should have gone to Canada which was only a half hour north from Republic. We stayed in WA for three days and then drove to Rexburg with Dad and MarySue to visit with Meredith.
We stayed Friday night in Rexburg and drove home Saturday afternoon. We wanted to get back to UT so that Dad and MarySue could go to Music and the Spoken Word in SLC.
Then we looked around Temple Square and took pictures. We were able to see the newly renovated Tabernacle; it was really neat.
Then Dad and MarySue flew out Sunday afternoon and Jade and I went home to relax (But that was like three weeks ago, sorry it took so long). There ya go!!

I love the one you took of Meredith with your reflection in the rear view mirror...and cool map graphic of your road trip! Also- thanks for the card. We resumed our mail from our trip but they didn't deliver it til yesterday, but I still got it before my birthday. Thank you- I wish I had been better at remembering yours! But I love you! Thanks for being my brother!
Great report, Matt! Thanks for sharing. Sandy looks so much like your Grandmother Woods (only taller), it is amazing!
